Introduction Of The 2022 Powerful Car Mitsubishi Outlander
The 2022 Powerful Car Mitsubishi Outlander. new Mitsubishi outlander it’s been a long time coming for the new outlander the previous generation did service across almost the entire 2010s here in Australia and little did we know when the last one launched it was going to become one of the final Mitsubishi products that the brand was fully in charge of itself.
The Intervening Period Mitsubishi
Because in the intervening period Mitsubishi has been bought out by Nissan and underneath the new outlander sits the same cmf cd platform of the next generation Nissan x-trails so this car isn’t just an outlander it’s also a bit of a preview of what the next x-trail is going to be like too so there’s so much that’s new about this car and you’ve got to start with the styling because.
The previous one to my eyes at least just looked like an appliance there was nothing really interesting about the design you definitely couldn’t say that about the new 2022 outlander it looks great this one in deep blue looks really expensive in combination with the big 20 inch wheels this radical front end and the handsome rear end.
It’s a good looking vehicle and it looks much more expensive than its price the one I’ve brought along is an upper mid-spec aspire two-wheel drive that’s just over 41 grand before on-road costs not particularly expensive for a seven-seat suv in the interior of the new outlander which is different to the old one we’ll have a look in the back seats and the boot.
That Mitsubishi And Their New Owners At Renault Nissan
We’ll discuss the running costs and then we’ll head out onto the road in this 2.5-liter outlander which uses a Nissan engine and we’ll see how this suv dries because designing a cool looking exterior you could I guess you can put a good looking car over any old chassis but getting the interior right takes skill and money and you can tell.
That Mitsubishi and their new owners at Renault Nissan have had the resources to do an interior properly so not only does it look good but the materials all feel high class it feels like you know 10 15 grand more expensive than it used to be but most grades are only up by about 2 000 and I think that you get value for money compared to the old outlander.
Which just felt like a rental car it was durable it was well sized for a lot of families but it didn’t have much flair to the design you would not accuse the new car of that it starts with this steering wheel perforated leather pedal shifters and nice sort of knurled toggle here on the left hand spoke looks good feels good and it’s not too big so.
Digital Instrument Cluster Right The Mitsubishi
You don’t feel like you’re driving a bus and I think that’s one of many things about the outlander that feels a little but I don’t know a bit sexier than before there was nothing sexy about the old one now looking at the infotainment package we’ve got a nine-inch touchscreen up here and a seven-inch digital display and leaving aside Volkswagen
Who I think get their digital displays or digital instrument cluster right the Mitsubishi one’s really good too so we’ve got this really good view for the song that you’ve got playing on apple carplay so you can have water or something up here you can have your media with album art right in the display we’ve got a kind of redundant safety one because.
It’s just massive we’ve got a home screen we’ve got a big clear trip computer and we’ve got a compass but what we can’t do is put a map on this screen which would be even cooler I quite like how the taco and the speedometer sort of the cycle I can’t think of what might look like a roller deck or something but I’m.
A Classic Mitsubishi Design
A little bit too young to say that conclusively either way though it feels techy and cool and clear as for this screen over here it has wireless apple car play which is just great and still unusual for this segment although android auto does require a cable through either the new usb c port or the old-style usb port here in the center console plus.
There’s wireless phone charging and while only the higher-spec exceed and exceed tourer get a bose stereo even the standard speakers on this aspire sound pretty good so while you’re here kind of enjoying the tech you’ve got your wireless carplay going your wireless charging your music sounds good too and then there are the seats which.
I like they’ve got a classic Mitsubishi design which is this sort of double pin striping that runs laterally across the seats the bolsters are pretty fat the electric adjustment for the driver is decent and we’ve got power lumber over here too so you feel comfortable it’s easy to see out of and then all these secondary materials are soft too.
The Mitsubishi outlander’s second row
So massive step up in perceived quality for the new outlander problems in here well to be honest with you they’re pretty few and far between there’s a fair bit of piano black down here which is going to mark up some of these soft materials up here also mark a little bit more than we might expect in some other cars but you know and maybe.
A little bit a bit more oddment storage around the center console would have been good we’ve got two cup holders here we’ve got a little central box and the door bins can fit a large water bottle so for just over 41 grand as tested this feels pretty nice upfront jumping into the Mitsubishi outlander’s second row and you’ll see that it’s nice and spacious even for adults so for myself it’s six foot.
I’ve got loads of headroom this car doesn’t have a sunroof but even on variants with a sunroof, I think it’ll be completely fine in terms of rear headroom legroom I’ve got enough and toe room I’ve got heaps of that now one interesting thing is that because this is based on uh the Renault Nissan cmf cd platform shared with a whole bunch of non-SUVs the floor is a little bit higher than.
The Mitsubishi Feels Better Than The Ones On The Volkswagen Despite
You’d normally expect and as such, I feel like I’m sort of floating a little bit above the seat base I’m not I do have reasonable support it’s just you feel quite a bit higher than you would normally but at least that means you’ve got a good view out stadium-style seating above the front seats which is another thing that helps stave off car sickness now in terms of amenities back here.
We’ve got air vents in little cubby another two usb ports one old style and one usb c we have here the full flip-down armrest with a couple of cupholders that are interesting and then over here on the door we do have this generous sort of pleather pad helping to break up the hard plastics which is nice and on the back of the seats not only do both of them have a map pocket but.
They’ve also got supplementary pockets like a Volkswagen Tiguan except for the quality of the ones on the Mitsubishi feels better than the ones on the Volkswagen despite being relatively inexpensive so that’s good it’s big it’s spacious it’s easy to see out of and it’s got pretty much all the features you’d be looking for here around the back.
The Mid-Spec Car We Still Have A Power Tailgate
The treatment of the new outlander is a little less heavy-handed I would say than the previous generation of this car which had those big tail lights they’re still quite wide but they’re definitely tightened up and just visually there’s less weight going on here now we’ve got our aspire badging new model for the outlander sits just underneath the exceed and then above.
The exceed there’s the exceed tourer as well anyway here on the mid-spec car we still have a power tailgate which is great and not that common for this segment and that opens up to reveal a pretty big boot you can see that we’ve got our three suitcases in here no problem with one of the second-row seats in place if I take our suitcases out.
We can have a look at the packaging of the third row so as I mentioned I’ve already got one seat set up it’s pretty easy to pull up the next seat which can also recline some way where’s our headrest well unlike some it’s not clever enough to have been packaged with the headrests folding away so instead they have their little cubby where this metal definitely won’t rattle against anything anyway drop that in here we’ve got our headrests still got enough space for a couple of school bags.
