Introduction Of Mazda CX-8 Asaki LE 2021 Review No.1 Chasing Car
Mazda CX-8 Asaki LE 2021 Review No.1 Chasing Car. The Mazda cx-8 Osaki le that this narrow body large suv from Mazda is actually reasonably good value for money against some of its competitors it may be far more expensive than the base68 but it certainly feels considerably more expensive particularly inside although you can see it outside as well.
Soul Red Has Been Mazda’s Signature Color
Where it’s got a bit more brightwork it’s got those really attractive 19-inch wheels and that sort of metallic mid-grey finish and this one’s also wearing soul red crystal now soul red has been Mazda’s signature color for a long time.
Some would say it’s a little bit played out I guess but I think in super deep crystal form on this cx8 it is worth the extra 495 dollars now in today’s we’re going to do our usual thing we’ll jump inside the car to saki le check out the interior we’ll have a look at the captain’s chairs in the second row and the third row take a look in the boot discuss the running costs of this.
Diesel-powered family suv and then head out on the road in the cx-8 to see how it drives before we get started make Mazda are pretty good at differentiating the trim levels of their lineup because when you jump into the base model sport as we did a few months ago it’s pragmatic it’s well built the material quality is definitely.
Start To Work Your Way Up The Range Of Any Mazda
There but you wouldn’t call it a luxury you know the seats are cloth you don’t get soft materials down here around the center console then as you start to work your way up the range of any Mazda you start noticing all these little changes accumulating into something much better and bigger.
Now here in the Osaki le this is the nicest a cx-8 gets so we’re sitting on Nappa leather it’s got quilting around the sides it’s chroma brown which is a special color it’s a choice between this sort of auburn red kind of shade and pure white depending on whether you want to go for a lighter or a darker interior here with the chroma brown paired with the black headliner.
It’s kind of quite clubby in here it almost reminds me of a genesis color combination it’s it’s quite lush we’ve got a beautiful stitch leather steering wheel that feels good in the hand we’ve got leather on the shifter and we’ve got sort of simulated leather up here on the dash.
Mazda Uses Quite Nice Genuine Wood
But also soft material here where your leg or knee rests which helps cushy armrests either side so the driver’s environment here sitting upfront it does feel extremely comfortable and supportive now the secondary trim running here along.
The doors and the dashboard are this kind of well it’s plastic it looks like interlocking metal hexagons on some trims Mazda uses quite nice genuine wood and I think that probably would have worked even better here but it’s fine.
It’s inoffensive now what else have we got well the cx-8 is now a bit of a mix of the new and the old for Mazda the basic design here dates back to the launch of the new cx-5 in 2017 here in Australia it’s aging pretty well it’s quite handsome but the technology has copped a big upgrade.
The Mazda 3 And CX-30
If you buy one of the most expensive trims the base cars in the cx-5 and the cx-8 still get the old screen but the higher end versions including this le get a new 10-inch screen up here which you can only use with the rotary commander down between.
The seats are fine because that’s a safe and easy way to interact with it uh while you’re driving and on bumpy roads, this is a real boon now it’s a little bit hobbled compared to the same system in the Mazda 3 and cx-30 which introduced this screen because you can’t change track on the little volume dial down here but.
That’s okay you of course have track buttons up here on the steering wheel in front of you you’ve got a mix of analog and digital screens or analog gauges i should say and then a digital screen in between that’s okay but it’ll be nice.
Mazda Has Already Confirmed The CX-8 Will Be Living A Long Life
If you could put a map there or song information you can’t but you do have a good heads-up display that you can see through polarized sunglasses plus a bose stereo that sounds really good in this car actually crisp clear and loud and in terms of practicality.
We’ve now got wireless charging ahead of the shifter big cupholders dual armrest here with felt lining in there a couple of usb ports and door bins that can take a water bottle of one and a half liters which is really good final note is to say that soon mazda will be introducing.
A new generation of large suvs called the cx-60 70 80 and 90. if Australia gets the cx-80 that would be like a rear-wheel-drive based more luxurious version of this car but Mazda has already confirmed the cx-8 will be living a long life in Australia so.
The Mazda CX-9 Even Though The CX-8 Is The Narrow-Body Partner
It’s not on the cusp of being retired now on that note let’s have a look at the second row welcome to the party trick of the cx-8 Osaki le the captain’s chairs in the second row just like on the top-end version of the Mazda cx-9 even though the cx-8 is the narrow-body partner to the cx-9 in the Mazda lineup.
There’s still ample width here to feel luxurious now this isn’t the cx-8 to buy if you need every seat all of the time and every other version of the cx-8 has a regular bench back here but if you’re only ever planning to take your own two kids for instance in the back you can buy.
The le which feels very lush and then you’ve still got the regular third row with another two seats behind us so this is a six-seater here in the Osaki le now what’s interesting is that Mazda has kind of noticed the captain’s chair trend in America and how here in Australia.
That Trend To The cx-8 And It Works Well
You can now get say the Hyundai palisade with captain’s chairs and they’ve brought that trend to the cx-8 and it works well because basically, these seats are effectively just the front seats so whereas the second row is usually very much second class citizen in any car hire in the cx-8.
It isn’t because these seats are comfy and they’ve got a huge range of electric adjustment like ridiculously big recline more than you’d usually find you can slide them for and aft with the same sorts of electric adjustment controls.
That you would get upfront and these seats like the ones in front are both heated and ventilated very very nice plus we’ve got a separate climate zone with fan speed and temperature back here we’ve still got big cupholders another copy of the front armrest with felt lining and two fast-charging usb ports.
Head Touching The Roof But It’s Better In The cx-8
So it’s all very well kitted out here for a family road trip and then up here on this window you can see we’ve got a manual sunblind too here in the third row it’s certainly livable for adults for short distances and kids are going to be completely fine back here so I’ve adjusted this seat.
A little bit forward from where it was before but still with adequate legroom for an adult sitting in row two and you can see I’ve got space for my legs sure they’re floating well above the seat base so you wouldn’t want to do hours back here in terms of headroom.
I can just feel the top of my head touching the roof but it’s better in the cx-8 than the cx-9 for tall passengers in the third row because the roofline doesn’t taper off you know as much as the cx-9 which looks better outside.
I mentioned inside the cx-8 this suv
But doesn’t have as much practicality up here now these seats are pretty nicely upholstered we’ve got headrests here we’ve got a little window to see out of and interestingly we’ve got more usb ports here in the third row.
What is the highest amperage in the whole car which is a bit of trivia we’ve got a cup holder here as well now access in and out there is you know good curbside access because we’ve got a captain’s chair just there but the process to move?
That chair out of the way is very slow so if it’s bucketing down with rain you know a manual release would be quicker but of course, being at the top of the range it’s all fully electrified as I mentioned inside the cx-8 this suv.
Mazda’s largest suv the simple fact
The whole shtick is that it’s a seven-seater but it’s a narrow body so it’s long and narrow it’s not as big as a cx-9 and you can really tell that from some angles although it’s also not quite as proportionate in terms of design as Mazda’s largest suv the simple fact is you’re going to fit this in more garages and if you live in the inner city.
Somewhere here in Australia you’re going to appreciate that narrow width absolutely now the boot is a power tailgate at this point in the range and it opens up to reveal a good amount of space even with the third row in place you get 209 liters so.
I mean that’s not huge but it will be enough space to get the school bags if you’re taking home a full haul on the school run as you can see here I’ve got one of those third-row seats still in place but it’s really easy to fold it down just quick two-step motion like that it’s not power-operated or anything but I think anyone would be able to do that.
